Low self esteem

One problem that often stops relationships from starting is low self esteem. Sometimes a person’s self esteem is so low that they think “If this person likes me, they can’t be good enough for me”. It is the same as Oscar Wilde’s quip:

“I would never join a club that would accept me as a member.”

It is self-defeating, and defeating for others too.
