For many years I worked as a computer programmer, and taught programming. I’ve also been using software synthesisers since around the turn of the millennium. In that time I’ve developed a driving curiosity about what every dial and slider does.
I like to distil complicated concepts into their fundamentals and make them easy to understand
In terms of music, I believe melody and harmony are important. It doesn’t matter whether natural instruments, or samples of them, or synthesisers are used, as long as what is generated sounds as intended, and is an expression of human creativity; that’s art. I think considerable power comes from a combination of synthesiser and orchestral elements.
Music, in my view, is a language of emotion—and we aim to move.
This site
This is a site of three parts:
Music
It’s a place where you can sample and buy music I have made (or commission me to make more). You find my music on Spotify and other platforms as well, but you might like to consider buying it directly from me instead.
Soundsets
It’s also a place where you can buy soundsets, or preset collections, which I have carefully created. I use these presets in my own music, and you can use them in yours. I typically devote several hours to the creation of one single preset. I push the envelope (literally!) to get the most out of these instruments and really extend the available sounds.
Tutorials
Thirdly, it’s a place where you can improve your understanding of software instruments—but here you can do that with an unusually high “signal-to-noise” ratio. I don’t waffle and I don’t self-promote. I get to the point. Far from being long, meandering chats, my tutorials are researched, rehearsed and precise. My aim is to make principles clear and understandable, with the minimum of drama; that maximises information transfer to you.
